Our process begins with defining the type of prototype we'll use; defining the testing goals and measurements, and understanding our schedule. Stages include:

We believe it's necessary to build two or three digital prototypes that can be tested. We've found that if the prototype testing is designed to be intuitive, we can discover how the end-user actually engages and uses the product. When possible, we put real data into the prototype with pictures and copy to measure the efficacy of each design element.

Specific Design Specifications and Metrics: Our methodology describes specific prototype tests for concept validation to understand if people can intuitively figure out how to use the product design and understand what it is and what it does. Navigation is tested once we have finalized labels and category names. This allows us to understand if the user finds what they're expecting to find based on the categories presented.

Microcopy involves testing the real labels, menu categories, button names, and short descriptions on the prototype. This step surfaces any confusion that might be created by the microcopy that we are using in the product.

The Flow of Features is a test designed to show how a user moves through steps to accomplish a task using the product. This test reveals product design strengths and weaknesses and uncovers any flaws in the UI design.
