2010 may very well go down as the year that internet-connected TV became widely popular. In the second part of this year alone, we will have witnessed the introduction of the new Apple TV, dirt-cheap Roku boxes, Google TV, and the long-awaited Boxee box. There isn’t a very well-defined term for these devices, so I’m just going to call them by their generic term, set-top boxes (STB). But to be clear, I am not referring to the type of box that is provided to you by your cable or satellite operator; we're talking about independent devices that stream their content over traditional internet.
