It’s quite easy — and therefore tempting — to repurpose a web site for mobile by simply building an iOS or Android native app “shell” that merely loads a web site. It's a recipe for instant app presence: publish this month, not next quarter.

But App Store reviews of a major travel brand's app show the folly in stark detail.

Last Tuesday, Engadget revealed Sony Ericsson's new LiveView display device — what they're calling a Micro Display. It is a 1.3" OLED screen that pairs with your Android mobile phone via Bluetooth and provides a sort of physical widget experience.

The Kinect sensor enables controller-free, full body play.

I had an opportunity last week to pick up Microsoft's new Kinect sensor bar, which introduces a new suite of full-body gestures and capabilities to the Xbox 360. My initial observations result from spending a weekend with it, playing as a family.

Now I imagine there will be scores of gamers out there who dismiss Kinect because the launch titles are more casual in nature, but I believe this device will steal some family game time back from the Nintendo Wii. When the Wii came out, we suddenly saw people playing video games that wouldn't have played...

We've been watching the evolution of Windows Phone 7 with much anticipation. It lands this week, and we are eager to see how it is accepted by both the media and customers. Having gotten a sneak peek hands-on demo last week, I thought I'd share our experience.
