Device makers have found opportunities in distinct form factors that make dedicated electronics desirable. Their singleness of purpose and their price point require unique design thinking.

These dedicated devices exist alongside mobile phones, tablets, PCs and TVs in a growing digital ecosystem. Companies must measure a device’s success by its ability to play well in the ecosystem: to stay connected via the cloud or via local networks without losing their identity as distinct devices with a core value proposition.
